An original Tiffany price list (this pattern was introduced in 1909) describes the American Indian pattern this way:
“In this set is embodied the Art of the American Indian. The motifs chosen are the Seasons symbolized by the Serpent, the Frog, the Bird, and the rain and storm. The connected circles represent the Flight of Time.”
The hieroglyphs and geometric details are pleasing to the eye and include connected circles, representing the flight of time. The hinged lid presents a stylized bird amidst wind and clouds. Around the sides are winged owls. These design patterns reflect elements found in Native American rugs and pottery.
Two examples, each with a different finish, are shown. The first example sold for $445 in November 2017. The second sold for $403 in April 2022.
