This combined inkwell and pen stand is called “The Madison”. The base has an Art Deco-inspired design, with a stepped, geometric shape. It is made with “Styron” – a type of polystyrene plastic developed by Dow Chemical. The set was made in various colors. The top unscrews to allow filling the cavity with ink. The manufacturer was Preferred Products Co., 2213 Ashland Ave, Toledo, 10, Ohio. This inkstand dates to the 1950’s. While Art Deco’s peak was in the 1920s and 30s, its design elements continued to be used in modified forms in later decades.
