The Lady and the Cat
Categories | Ceramics/Porcelain Figural |
Type | Limoges |
Material | Porcelain |
Markings | C. R. Limoges |
Origin | France |
A Limoge porcelain figural inkwell of woman distraught apparently over her cat lying at her feet. The ceramic inkpot is removable and the hole in the top of what looks like a planter could be used as a holder for a quill. While an article in WorthPoint indicates that the “C. R.” mark was used on early pieces, the late eighteenth century, the attire of the woman more likely suggests the piece is modern.
