This inkstand made by the Taylor Tunnicliffe Co. features a hand painted porcelain inkwell on an ormolu base. (Ormolu is a gold-colored alloy of copper, zinc, and tin). The inkwell bears the mark of the company.
Taylor Tunnicliffe & Company was founded in 1867 by ThomasTaylor and William Tunnicliff to manufacture domestic earthenware. Between 1867 and 1898 the company produced a wide range of quality ware.
