This sterling silver inkstand features a pierced gallery design and rests on four shell-shaped feet. It is hallmarked for London and made by John Wilmin Figg in 1844.

The most notable feature of this inkstand is undoubtedly its two rare inkwells, designed in the form of syphon inkwells, commonly called “tea kettles”. These inkwells are crafted from deep cobalt blue glass, a striking contrast to the silver filigree that encases them in intricate patterns. The center of the inkstand houses a taper holder, complete with a snuffer. Beneath this taper holder lies a discreet storage compartment. A pen channel in front completes the piece.
