Detailed Description

  • Overall Form: A single inkwell unit set within a square, brass frame. The design is simple, functional, and geometric.
  • Material:
    • Frame: The main body and base are constructed from brass. The brass is heavy and solid.
    • Inkwell: The ink reservoir itself is a clear glass liner that fits snugly within the brass frame. The glass is squared or slightly cylindrical and rests recessed within the metal.
  • Structure: The piece is essentially a metal casing designed to hold the glass inkwell in place. The brass base is square, with slightly raised feet. The piece features two semi-circular or D-shaped handles secured to the sides of the brass frame.
  • Lid: The inkwell features a separate, lift-off lid (not hinged), which is made of brass and features high relief work.
