Design & Decoration – Pastoral Scenes (Embossed Panels)

Two detailed vignettes encircle the body of the inkwell:

  • Boy Fishing by a Windmill: A young boy stands beside a stream, rod in hand, with a tall windmill rising in the background. Trees and foliage frame the scene, evoking a peaceful countryside moment.
  • Boy Blowing a Horn at a Dog: In a lively contrast, another panel shows a boy sounding a horn while a dog responds with alert curiosity. The setting includes rustic terrain and distant hills.

These scenes are rendered in high-relief embossing, surrounded by ornate floral scrollwork that enhances their narrative charm.

Lid & Finial

  • Hinged Lid: Opens to reveal the ink reservoir.
  • Finial: A finely detailed pineapple-shaped knob crowns the lid, symbolizing hospitality and abundance.
