Zakopane was a popular health resort and tourist destination at the turn of the century. Located at the foot of the Tatra Mountains, it was known for its fresh mountain air, which was believed to have health benefits. People visited Zakopane for its natural beauty, opportunities for outdoor activities like hiking and skiing, and its unique wooden architecture. Zakopane also became a cultural hub, attracting artists and intellectuals. The town’s growth was facilitated by the arrival of the railway in 1899, making it more accessible to visitors.
