This English silverplated double inkstand by John Turton & Company Limited features two inkwells with hinged lids, set on a rectangular base with raised sides and ornate cut-out patterns along the edges. In the front is a large pen channel.The hallmark “JT & Co LD S” links this to John Turton & Company Limited.
John Turton & Company was established in the 19th century and became known for its high-quality cutlery and electro-plated items. The company registered silver marks in the early 1900s and specialized in hotel cutlery and other silver-plated goods. This inkstand likely dates from the early 20th century.
