A solid silver inkwell in the form of a Roman oil lamp. With a flying scroll handle incorporating the head of a stylized bird, the lid of the inkwell is attached by a chain to the bird’s beak. The main body and the lid both display ornate engraved decoration. Hallmarked for James Charles Edington, London, 1845.
