This is an Edwardian sterling silver inkstand, hallmarked for London, made by the silversmith George Fox in the year 1905. The inkstand rests securely on four ornate scrolled feet. The main body of the inkstand is rectangular with a distinct, pierced border. This openwork design features repeating geometric patterns.
The inkstand holds two inkwells. These are housed within upright sterling silver casings that also feature pierced decoration, echoing the design of the border. The openwork of the silver casings reveals the cranberry glass liners contained within. The silver casings have hinged lids.
