A novelty solid silver combination inkwell and stamp holder in the form of a Victorian coal box. The box sits on four raised feet, and two lids. The upper lid opens to reveal an inkwell. The lower lid marked Stamps opens a compartment to store stamps. Made of sterling silver, it has hallmarks for the Birmingham assay office, date letter “b” for 1901, and silversmith Joseph Gloster.
