This Sheffield silverplated inkstand is mounted on a polished mahogany base. The inkstand features two cut glass inkwells with silverplated lids, positioned on either side of a central chamberstick. The chamberstick includes an attached snuffer, which was used to extinguish candles. there is a pen channel on both sides suggesting this may have been used on a partner’s desk. Below the silverplate and inkwells, there is a pull-out drawer with a round knob. The entire piece is supported by four rounded bun feet. The monogramming and the date of 1975 suggest that this inkstand was personalized as a gift, even though the inkstand itself dates to around 1900.
