Shakespeare’s bust rests on an ivy-covered plinth. On either side is an inkwell with a separate lid. In the front is a pen tray. The number 4921 is stamped on the underside.
I have seen this same inkstand with Henry Wadsworth Longfellow. Perhaps these inkstands were part of a series of famous authors.
