Red Enamel and Gilt Bronze Inkstand
- Materials and Construction: The inkstand features a vibrant red enameled inkwell set within a finely crafted gilt bronze frame. The frame is ornate with the front of the frame curling to form a pen holder.
- Design Details: The ends of the gilt bronze frame are sculpted in the likeness of lions’ or leopards’ heads. The inkwell itself has a hinged lid, also enameled in red, that opens to allow access to the ink. The rectangular base is enameled in red and has 4 bronze feet attached underneath.
- Unique Function: A key feature of this inkstand is the tilting mechanism. The inkwell rests within the frame on a pivot, allowing it to be tilted forward.
