An inkwell modeled after the Prussian Garde du Corps / Garde Cuirassier 1867 helmet. The inkwell itself is molded glass and the eagle lid is made of metal. The Garde du Corps served as personal bodyguard of the king of Prussia and, after 1871, of the German Emperor. The unit was founded in 1740 by Frederick the Great. This piece dates from around 1890 to 1910.
