Made of clear pressed glass, the base of this clear pressed glass inkstand has three stepped grooves which serve as pen rests. The two glass removeable inkwells have Bakelite lids – one red, one black. The underside of the glass base is marked “Frank A. Weeks Mfg. Co.” inside one well, and “350 Paragon Pending” inside the other. Each of the Bakelite lids is marked on the inside: “Paragon 1256”.
The second example was likely made to accommodate a partner’s desk, having three stepped grooves for pens on two opposite sides.
Founded in 1909, the Frank A. Weeks Manufacturing Company was based in New York City. They specialized in producing office supplies and equipment during the early to mid-20th century.
