This solid oak wooden inkstand with two crystal inkwells has boasts sterling silver detailing. The silver marks show London 1903. The inkstand was presented to a departing police surgeon. The inscription reads:
“Presented to W.G. Willoughby Esq M.D. as a mark of esteem by the officers and men of the Eastbourne Borough Police upon the occasion of his resigning the post of Police Surgeon”.
A label, affixed to the bottom, indicated this piece was made by Evershed & Son, Goldsmiths & Jewellers.
