The inkstand contains two cut crystal inkwells with hinged lids. The central compartment’s sphinx finial guards its contents (stamps, wafers, nibs, etc.). There is a pen tray in the front and a rope gallery (made of brass or bronze) around the sides. The base is decorated with a Greek Key border. This silverplate inkstand is numbered, likely English from an unidentified maker.
