The inkwell fits onto a circular silverplate base with a Greek key design border, and has a pen holder. It is inscribed with the following:
“Presented to Richard Clarkson, Inspector N.R.C., On his promotion to Superintendant, by the officers and constables of the, Pickering Lyth East Section. August 1st 1876”
