Inscription: “To The Rev F.C. Hayes A.M. From his Godchildren at Sandford Hill – July 1866”. This is a magnificent, very large Victorian English silver inkstand. It is of scalloped shell form with a raised center with a well to receive the inkwell. The back of the inkstand is raised and terminates in a spiral. The stand is engraved with anthemion and scrolls. The heavy glass ink bottle sits in the center well and is circular but facet cut in an octagonal shape. The stand is hallmarked London 1866. Maker: James Charles Edington.
