The gilt bronze base of this ornate inkstand features a strand of flowers and leaves. The hinged lid is surmounted with hand painted porcelain forget-me-nots and rosebuds in relief. This style of decoration is characteristic of “elfinware”, which refers to object embellished with delicate porcelain flowers. One green glass insert is missing.
