Philadelphia Athletics Baseball Club Inkwell

This cut crystal inkwell with a Gorham sterling silver lid with blue enamel accents has a circular inscription reading “AMERICAN BASE BALL CLUB OF PHILADELPHIA ATHLETICS.” An emblem in the center has the team’s logo – an elephant standing between two crossed baseball bats. The lid is marked Gorham sterling. Perhaps this inkwell celebrated the Philadelphia Athletics’ first World Series championship title in 1910 when they defeated the Chicago Cubs. Perhaps this was used by Connie Mack himself? This inkwell is an interesting part of baseball history.
