This ornate brass double inkstand features a symmetrical design with numerous decorative elements cast into the brass. The inkstand has a central section with two round inkwells, each fitted with a domed lid. The inkwells are flanked by decorative supports that rise and integrate into an elaborate backplate. This backplate is characterized by pierced scrollwork. Rising prominently from the center of the backplate’s top is a distinctive, multi-tiered element that resembles a stylized pagoda. In front of the inkwells is a shell-shaped pen tray.
