This French bronze and marble inkstand features a central bronze figure of Nike, the Greek goddess of victory, poised as if landing on a sphere. Flanking this central figure are two white marble inkwells with bronze lids, each adorned with a finial on top. The inkwells rest on a platform supported by four intricately designed bronze sphinxes, which serve as feet for the stand. The platform itself is decorated with relief patterns and has an ornamental border with acanthus leaves and other classical motifs. At the center front of the platform, there’s an oval cartouche framed by decorative elements.
