Miniature building inkwell from 1908 in the shape of the National Bank of Commerce in Kansas City, Missouri. It is a dead ringer for the real Beaux-Arts landmark, which was built in 1908 by famed Chicago architect Jarvis Hunt. The building is now on the National Register of Historic Places.
This replica is cast in a heavy metal alloy with fine detail in the building’s sixteen stories of arched classical revival doorways and windows. The top of the building is hinged and opens to access the inkwell inside. The roof is embossed “NATIONAL BANK OF COMMERCE – JUNE 1908 – KANSAS CITY, MO”. This replica was likely made for the building’s dedication in June 1908. Whitehead & Hoag, Newark NJ, manufactured the piece.
