This glass inkwell is shaped like a campaign hat, which is often associated with drill instructors in the military, particularly in the United States Army or Marine Corps. This hat has a distinctive high crown with four symmetrical dents and a wide, flat brim. There is a decorative band around the base of the crown with two tassels hanging from it. The inkwell is two pieces, with the top part of the hat lifting off to access the inkwell underneath.
