Shaped like a temple, this carved marble Masonic inkwell belonging to the Mount Vernon Lodge 14 (Georgetown, KY) is decorated with Masonic symbols including:
Square and compass – tools used by stonemasons. Inside the square and compass, the letter “G”, which represents the Great Architect of the Universe, a term used to describe God in Freemasonry. The square and compass are also symbolic of the moral and ethical principles that Freemasonry espouses. The square represents morality, while the compass represents ethics. Together, they represent the balance between the two.
The All-Seeing Eye is a symbol used to remind members that the Great Architect of the Universe (God) is observing all deeds, actions, and human thoughts.
