This 19th century hand-carved inkwell depicts the head of a woman wearing a hood and a masquerade mask. It is hand-carved from hardwood and retains its original hand-painted surface, small carved and applied teeth, glass eyes, applied beaded necklace, and headpiece. Lifting the woman’s hood, one finds the original nickel-plated inkwell and removable glass bottle. The inkwell has a locking, spring-loaded hinged lid.
