This marble and brass inkwell on three feet and features a circular base crafted from a richly veined marble, displaying a mix of warm ochre, brown, and cream tones. The marble is likely a variety known as “breccia,” characterized by its fragmented appearance and varied colors. The sides of the base are adorned with a decorative brass band featuring a floral and leaf motif. The brass lid has a detailed design with a finial on top.

The following note was found inside the inkwell: “Brought from Le Mans France by Dr. F.M. Boback. Following World War I he was in charge of the base hospital during the World War. He was a captain.”
