This inkstand features a little girl with an ivory face, wearing a bonnet and coat, holding a spray of flowers. She stands on a naturalistic base which includes an inkwell with a hinged cover. The inkstand is signed “P. Tereszczuk” (Austrian, 1875 – 1963) and impressed with the “AR” foundry mark.
Peter Tereszczuk was born in 1875 in Ukraine and lived in Vienna from 1895 to 1925. He created bronze sculptures, sometimes with delicate ivory elements as with this inkstand.
