A nice porcelain inkwell designed by Edouard Sandoz and executed by Theodore Haviland, Limoges in 1922. The inkwell is shaped like a stylized owl, and a great example of Sandoz’s designs.

Both the lid and the underside are marked with a red Theodore Haviland mark. The bottom is further marked with a facsimile signature, an impressed mark and a déposé mark. The inkwell is unfortunately in damaged condition. The head had been broken in three pieces and glued. The pen tray has a small glaze flaw from production.
