This inkstand features an iridescent glass inkwell, likely crafted by Kralik. The inkwell itself resembles a bulbous, round shape with a textured “drape” pattern surface. Its predominant color is a vibrant green with hints of other hues. The inkwell’s lid resembles a leaf or petal.
The brass fittings are marked:
D.G.M. – Deutsches GebrauchsMuster (registered in Germany)
KK WEST. PAT.A. – Kaiserlich Königlich Österreichisches Patent A –> Patent of the Royal Austrian Imperial Institute
The bronze lily pad base mimics the contours of a real lily pad with its undulating edges. The underside is marked “Geschutzt” (registered design) and has four small feet. The glass inkwell has a stem which fits and locks into the base.
