This cast iron double inkstand has an ornate, open-work design. The base features a symmetrical arrangement with two recesses designed to hold the two clear glass inkwells. The cast iron framework is decorated with stylized floral or foliate motifs. The molded glass inkwells are marked “Judd”.

An integrated pen holder is attached to the rear of the base, rising upwards. This pen holder serves a dual purpose: not only does it hold pens, but it also secures the attached lids of the inkwells. Each inkwell has a lid that swivels open to allow access to the ink.
