A large Jacob Petit porcelain figural inkstand c.1840, finely painted with colors and gilt, the cover modelled as a seated young gentleman, wearing an18th Century costume and holding a basket, his legs covered with encrusted flowers. The inkstand’s base is richly painted in gilt, and has two quill holders, an inkwell, and a sander. Both the inkstand and its cover are marked J.P.
