This inkwell features a miniature watercolor painting of a traditional fox hunting scene inlaid within the top hinged lid. The scene depicts mounted riders in traditional attire, hunting dogs, and even part of a motor car. The nickel silver top, which shows signs of age with some tarnishing, unscrews to allow for the replenishment of ink in the clear glass well below, which has a starburst pattern etched into its base. On the side of the lid, there is a lever mechanism to change the day of the month. The piece is marked with an engraved registration number “RD 449876.”
