An Edwardian silver combination pocket watch and inkwell by Henry Matthews with full hallmarks for Birmingham 1905. (maker HM; Birmingham assay office mark; lion silver mark; date letter for the year 1905). The large-scale silverplated pocket watch can be accessed by removing the bayonet fitting silver cover. The inkwell interior is gold plated and has a glass insert. The watch is ticking and keeping good time.
The inkwell was presented to Doctor Frank Braine Rockstro from the Ambulance Class Locomotive Department of the LSWR (London & South Western Railway). The silver inkwell is engraved as follows:
