This bronze Art Nouveau inkstand exemplifies the organic and intricate design typical of the Art Nouveau movement. It features chestnuts and leaves, modeled to highlight their natural textures and forms. The chestnuts, some still in their spiky husks, and the curling, overlapping leaves create a lifelike appearance.

The front of the inkstand is signed “A. Marionnet” (1852 – 1910). On the back, there is a marking that reads “A MARIONNET / BRONZES / PARIS / FRANCE / DEPOSÉ.”
