Horseshoe Inkstand – Bonheur

Categories Figural - Inanimate
Type Horseshoe
Material White metal
Manufacturer Undetermined
Origin France
Date or Era circa 1895
Measuring 4 ¾” wide; 5” high

Charming piece with the French inscription “Bonheur” (happiness) on a horseshoe for good luck. The feet supporting the inkstand are a horse’s hooves.

I have seen the same inkwell, only it was inscribed “Bona Fortuna” (Good Fortune) in Italian.

Sold for $58.50 in February 2019
