An early heart-shaped faience inkstand crafted by Sceaux ceramic factory with an interior pewter inkwell. Made of soft paste porcelain, it features a landscape with a putto pulling flowers out of a basket. The edge of the box is decorated with green floral sprays. The interior inkwell is framed in pewter with a cross-hatched design. Sceaux, historically known for its ceramic work, produced this piece during the 18th century in France. The inkstand is signed on the bottom “S. X.”
