Description:
- Material and Craftsmanship: The inkstand is made from a solid, dark-toned wood. The deep carving, visible grain, and textured surfaces throughout the piece underscore its artisanal nature.
- Overall Form and Base: The inkstand has an irregular, organic shape, mimicking natural ground or roots, from which the various elements emerge. The surface is carved with low-relief foliage, small flowers, and textured ground.
- The Inkwells and Lids: There are two separate inkwells, each covered by a removable, unattached lid:
- Mushroom Top Lid: On the left side, one inkwell is topped with a lid sculpted to resemble a large, domed mushroom top or toadstool.
- Flower Lid: On the right side, the other inkwell is covered by a lid shaped like a multi-petaled flower blossom, with petals spreading outwards.
- Central Figure: Man on a Stump: Positioned centrally between the two inkwells is a small, upright figure of a man with a beard, who is sitting on a stump. The stump is carved with details, suggesting roots or a rough natural surface.
- Additional Carved Details: The base of the inkstand is further embellished with smaller carved flowers and foliage, integrating all the elements into a cohesive, nature-inspired scene.
