This hand-carved Black Forest inkwell is carved to mimic a hat, complete with a wide brim that curves upward at the edges. The crown of the hat features a detailed carved floral design. The upper half of the hat is hinged, allowing it to open and reveal the inkwell inside. The “pitch” or “dent” at the top of the hat not only adds to the hat’s realistic appearance but also serves a functional purpose, as it can be used to rest a pen.
