In Greek mythology, Terpsichore is one of the nine Muses and goddess of dance and chorus. Terpsichore is usually depicted sitting down, holding a lyre, accompanying the dancers’ choirs with her music. In this depiction, there is also a lute and pan pipes near her seat. Two large stemmed glass inkwells fit into the wood base.
