This bronze inkstand is an example of the gothic style following the “style à la cathédrale” inspired by religious architecture in the period of Charles X of France (1824-1830). It features intricate arcatures (arched designs), rosettes, and cut and openwork festoons (elaborate garland-like patterns). Three lids cover two inkwells on either side and a sander in the middle, with a removable pen channel in the front.
