This is an Edwardian silver-mounted cut glass inkwell with an integrated pen rest, hallmarked for John Grinsell, Birmingham, 1904. The body of the inkwell is crafted from clear, heavy cut glass. The cutting features a starburst pattern. The lid is made of sterling silver and has a smooth, domed form with a small tab for easy opening. It is hallmarked for John Grinsell, Birmingham, and the date letter for 1904. The inkwell has an integrated pen rest – a curved section of the cut glass body, extending outwards from the inkwell. It is designed to hold a pen horizontally.
