This bronze figural inkstand on a marble base features a gleeful man ready to have a nice dinner. His eating utensils lie next to a basket (the inkwell) with a chicken’s head poking through the lid of the basket. He has a bottle of wine tucked under his arm. The bottle is removable and acts as a sealer. The lidded basket and the man’s head are both hinged. Perhaps the opening at the man’s head served as a place to hold a pen.
