This commemorative inkstand features a model of the iconic French M15 Adrian helmet (the standard combat helmet of the French Army during World War I).
Description:
- Base: Mounted on a substantial, rectangular white marble base featuring subtle grey veining, characteristic of desk accessories produced during and immediately after World War I.
- The Inkwell Assembly:
- The central inkwell cover is sculpted as a detailed M15 Adrian helmet complete with its distinctive comb/crest running fore and aft, a front visor, and a raised unit badge insignia on the front.
- The helmet is hinged at the rear, opening upward to reveal the interior ink reservoir.
- Inside sits the original removable cylindrical metal insert.
- The housing collar surrounding the base of the helmet is cast in bronze with high-relief patriotic military motifs, featuring crossed flags, laurel or oak leaves, and military trophies (such as crossed swords or a radiated star/medal emblem on the front mount).
- Pen Holder:
- Positioned on the marble deck behind the inkwell are two matching cast metal fork-style pen rests designed to hold a pen horizontally.
- Between the two pen rests sits a small, applied bronze component shaped like a bursting grenade insignia.
