This is a French glass inkwell, dating from the 19th century, showcasing a blend of glasswork, ornate gilt metal mounting, and a charming portrait miniature set into its lid. The inkwell’s body is formed from clear cut glass with facets. The clear glass of the inkwell is framed and accented by gilt metalwork, featuring delicate filigree. Oval medallions of malachite are set within ornate gilt frames. The focal point of the lid is a portrait miniature of a young person with fair skin and reddish-blonde, curly hair, dressed in period attire featuring a prominent ruffled or lace collar.
