Measuring 11 ¾” x 8 ¼” x 7 ⅜” high

Of serpentine shape with a drawer and pen tray, this French faience glazed inkstand holds two lidded inkwells. Two compartments to hold letters form the back. The piece is hand painted in polychrome with a floral motif, scrolls, garlands, swags, and ribbons. It’s inscribed “France 438” on the bottom.

Sold for $288 in May 2010
