This 19th century French Chinoiserie inkstand, crafted by Maison Millet, features gilt bronze branches with two candleholders integrated into the design all held by a central figure of a man dressed in a flowing robe and hat. The branches extending from the man are adorned with colorful porcelain flowers in shades of white, purple, yellow, and blue. The two inkwells are black with gold floral patterns and have decorative lids.

The base of the inkstand is lacquered and hand painted with a detailed scene depicting three men in traditional attire. One man is writing, the man in the middle holds a sword, and the man on the right appears to be cooking. The background features intricate patterns and designs, including a floral motif and a hanging tapestry or artwork. The scene is framed by an ornate, gold-colored border.

The mark “Millet à Paris” indicates it was made by the renowned French furniture maker Maison Millet, known for their luxurious and detailed craftsmanship. This piece is a beautiful blend of European and East Asian artistic traditions.
